In Class: Students began by taking their book club tests. From there, they continued workshopping their reflective presentations. At Home: Continue working on your reflective presentations and consider the following extra credit assignment if you are in need of additional points:
Below you will see the book club schedules per class. There is also the basic list of material students need for their presentations. Please have the following typed for your presentations:
Also remember that each group member should have a set of 5 questions to offer during the discussion section of your book clubs!
For the implications and Recommendations sections of your paper, please refer to the QR presentation. These sections essentially act as the final conclusions of your paper. Your data analysis section should include categories and discussion of your findings, while your implications are a holistic approach to your data analysis. In short, it should answer, or attempt to answer, the overall question you initially postulated. Your Recommendations section should offer suggestions and details for further research of your topic.
In Class:
Today we began class by recapping elements of a QR introduction and discussing the essential elements of a rationale. Students were also asked to submit their QR information and Google Doc links to the form linked above. Students were then given the rest of the period to research and consult on their topics and research methods. At Home: Please have your Introductions and Rationales finished by next class period. We will take some time to do peer reviews and begin the methodologies section. With that in mind, please also take time to consider your research and methodology process for our next class.
In Class: On Tuesday, students were given time to workshop and research for their Rewriting History assignment. We also discussed the final timeline for the unit, including pushing back the Rewriting History Gallery Walk and the Socratic seminar (now both due on the 21st). On Friday, students met with their Lit Circles for the fourth section of the text. At Home: Continue working on the Rewriting History Project and your final reading section of 1984.
