In Class:
We started with students submitting their Gatsby Reading Packets and then transitioning into a presentation on essay writing. Students were then introduced to their resources and prompt on The Great Gatsby Essay and then given time to start on their outlines. At Home: Please feel free to continue working on your Gatsby Outline. We will continue workshopping them next class period. They will be due by Thursday night before your final on Turnitin.com In Class: We began with a warm-up on diagramming direct objects, and then wraped up our review/questions activity on chapters 5 and 6. Then we began viewing the chapter 7 scene from the movie, pausing to read excerpts and analyze Fitzgerald's descriptions as they translated to the text. We began class with a Kahoot activity for Gatsby vocabulary list 3. From there, we wrapped up a discussion on chapter 4, which led into our group reading on Chapter 5 At Home: Study for your vocabulary 3 quiz and complete the chapter 5 study guide.
In Class:
Class started today with a warm-up using a class values inventory to discuss how different economic groups view the world. Then, we dove into The Great Gatsby, focusing on Nick's narrative style, figurative language, characterization, and thematic ideas presented thus far in the chapter. At Home: Please complete the first page of your vocabulary packet for next class period.
